Women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) have higher prevalence of metabolic disturbances such as changes in lipid profile, diabetes, hypertension and metabolic syndrome. Variants on vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene have also been related to metabolic comorbidities in general population.
